Coalfire Federal is looking for a Vulnerability Scan Engineer with an active Secret Clearance with Adjusticated SSBI or Top Secret Clearance to support our Coalfire Federal Team.  We will consider remote candidates.  

What you'll do

  • Function as a subject matter expert assisting private (commercial) and public (state and federal) clients in technical assessments of their FedRAMP, FISMA and CMMC environments.
  • Work with key stakeholders to validate vulnerability management security posture of their products and services.
  • Assess client security posture using automated tools and manual review of information systems and architecture.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize processes and procedures related to enterprise security scanning tools and best practices.
  • Provide recommendations on remediating host-based, web application, database, and compliance baseline vulnerabilities.
  • Perform analysis to validate justifications for false positives, operational requirements, and risk adjustments.
  • Conduct manual validation to confirm vulnerability closure.
  • Develop formal documentation such as reports, training material, slide decks, and architecture diagrams


What you'll bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (four-year college or university) in an IT-related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • One to three (1-3) years of work experience with system administration and/or cyber security
  • One to three (1-3) years of work experience configuring and executing industry leading vulnerability scanning tools (Tenable, Qualys, Netsparker, etc.).
  • A minimum of an active Secret Clearance with Adjudicated SSBI/Tier 5 or  Top Secret Clearance is also required.
  • At least one of the following certifications:
  • Security+
  • CCNA Security
  • CompTIA Cloud+
  • CompTIA CASP+
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the planning, development, coordination, implementation, and execution of a vulnerability management program.
  • In-depth knowledge of policies, procedures, development, and implementation of vulnerability identification, scanning, analysis, remediation tactics, and reporting within an organization.
  • In-depth knowledge of risk analysis and vulnerability remediation plan development.
  • In depth knowledge and experience of industry best practices for vulnerability management.
  • Direct experience working with remediation teams and management on vulnerability remediation and security posture improvement.
  • Familiarity with configuration baseline standards such as CIS Benchmarks or DISA STIGs.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% (very infrequent)
